Missouri
On December 19, 2007, Governor Matt Blunt announced he has signed onto components of the Midwestern Governors’ Association Energy Security and Climate Stewardship Platform after a careful review and discussions with Missouri energy consumers, industry representatives and other stakeholders.
Approximately 70 percent of energy produced in Missouri is produced from coal. Missouri is also a national leader in the field of bio-fuel production. In 2006 the Missouri General Assembly passed and the governor signed an E-10 Ethanol Standard requiring that all gasoline sold in Missouri contain at least 10 percent ethanol.
In addition, Missouri produces and utilizes energy derived from several other sources. Energy sources include among other things nuclear, natural gas, hydroelectricity, wind power, diesel fuel and various other developing alternative or “green” sources, such as landfill methane gas and recycled rubber tires.
