Ontario

Minister Broten announced the Ontario Call to Action on Clean Air and Climate Change on October 23rd 2006. The development of a Clean Air and Climate Change Plan is underway, with public release planned for 2007. The ministry has initiated consultation through a series of fifteen roundtable sessions throughout November and December to help develop the province's direction, approach and vision to reduce emissions that cause poor air quality and contribute to climate change. Ontario's plan will serve as a roadmap to an environmentally-sound and economically-robust future for our province. A credible plan to address climate change and air quality must have targets and timelines. Determining those targets and timelines will be challenging and we have received a lot of great feedback and suggestions from experts on climate change and air issues during our consultations.
