Climate Registry Information System (CRIS)
The Climate Registry Information System (CRIS) is The Registry’s online greenhouse gas (GHG) calculation, reporting, and verification tool. CRIS also provides public access to The Registry’s verified emission reports.
CRIS is utilized by the following stakeholders:
- Members: To calculate and/or report their emissions to The Registry
- Verifiers: To review and assess a Members’ annual emissions
- Public: To review verified emission reports
- Registry: To manage and administer the annual reporting process

Using CRIS 3.0 to verify GHG emissions
CRIS Data Extraction for Verification Bodies
Unlike the Excel version of the CRIS report that is available for download through CRIS, data extractions result in an Excel spreadsheet in tabulated format that can be easily sorted for purposes of calculation and analyzing data.
The process for requesting a CRIS data extraction is as follows:
a. The Verification Body must have received a COI determination letter of LOW for the Member and fully executed contract for verification services with the Member; OR
b. The Member must either submit the request directly or grant permission for The Registry to send the data extraction to the Verification Body.
c. Please submit the request by e-mailing CRIS@theclimateregistry.org. Be sure to note the Member name. For obvious reasons, the Member’s CRIS report should be Verification Ready prior to submitting the data extraction request. Requests willl be processed in 5 business days.
