EPS Protocol Development Process

In 2009, The Registry developed the Electrical Power Sector Protocol, a program-neutral greenhouse gas (GHG) protocol that provides important supplemental reporting guidance and requirements for the EPS. The EPS Protocol was adopted by The Registry’s Board of Directors on June 2, 2009.

The Registry would like to thank the following contributors to the protocol:

• Electrical Power Sector Workgroup,
• Electrical Power Sector Technical Expert Panel, and
• Ryerson, Master and Associates

The Registry’s Draft EPS Protocol was available for public comment in the spring of 2009. The Registry received 47 public comments which are presented below:

State of the Science: GHG Emissions from Hydro Reservoirs

Given the evolving understanding of emissions from hydro reservoirs, The Registry’s Board of Directors requested that staff convene a workshop to provide an overview of the current state of the science with respect to measuring emissions from hydro reservoirs, and demonstrate the complexity and range of issues associated with them.
