Accreditation
The Registry is partnering with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to administer the accreditation of Verification Bodies for The Registry’s Voluntary Reporting Program. The accreditation process is based on the internationally-recognized ISO 14065 standard. All Verification Bodies seeking to conduct verification activities for The Registry’s Voluntary Reporting Program must be accredited by this standard. Verification Bodies that successfully complete ANSI’s GHG Accreditation Program and that are accredited to both ISO 14065 and The Registry’s protocols will be eligible to conduct verification activities for The Registry’s Members.
ANSI is accepting new applications for accreditation on a rolling basis. Beginning December 31, 2009, Verification Bodies that are ANSI applicants may enter into a contract with a Registry Member only in order to fulfill ANSI witness assessment requirements, as further explained in the policy announcement issued on August 24, 2009.
In February 2008, ANSI launched its GHG Pilot Program. On December 1, 2008, ANSI accredited the first batch of Verification Bodies. A list of ANSI-accredited, Registry-recognized Verification Bodies, as well as a list of Verification Bodies that are proceeding through ANSI’s GHG Accreditation Program, are available on our website: List of Verification Bodies.
ANSI’s GHG Verification/Validation Accreditation Committee will consider additional Verification Bodies for accreditation during its quarterly meetings and through electronic ballot, as appropriate.
Please refer to ANSI’s website for more information.
